What brands live in your house?

27 February 2009

So, take a look around in your house or apartment, what brands do you find? What kind of consumer are you according to the things around you? What can we tell about ourselves as a person from the brands we have? Or is it just creative marketing plans?

In my apartement I see mostly IKEA, Thomson & Hemtex….in my closet I find that PUMA is a dominat brand, not a surprise as this is also my teenage sons favourite brand as a soccer player. But what does the brand say about me? Smart? Sporty? Active? Does it give me added value and what is that if that is true? Or am I just a victim of a major marketing strategy?

In creative marketing at Academedia one of the key elements are to identfy descision making factors when it comes to consumer level, understand them and make a plan accordingly. As the word creative causes many students a lot of stress when it comes to deliver but know one thing; you are a consumer! You have your whole house/apartment full of marketing plans in action! Investigate yourself !

Amstaff and marketing

25 February 2009
Bosse

Creative marketing – personal marketing – message – signals – vibes.

So how much do we really think about personal marketing? Is it networking? Or great fashion clothes or the latest hair cut? Is it possible there is more to it than that?

Many times I think we don’t even realise what kind of message we are sending and too many times we don’t even reflect on how other people perceives us.

Take Bosse for instance; a beautiful dog of the breed Amstaff. For most of us considered to be some sort of  “fighting” dog. For many the only time they ever see this kind of dog is in the media when they report bad things, when there has been an illegal dog fight or events where there has been someone who has been attacked.

If you look at these dogs with fear what do you think the dog picks up from you? What is your vibe? What does your body language say about you? Dogs are most intelligent and sensitive!

As far as Bosse I can tell you he is 3 years old with an impressive pedigree. He lives with his two owners Tereze and Thomas. His friends are Bella and Panter, a Doberman and a cat. Terese trains regularly with both dogs and Bosse has won several competitions. He is very social and outgoing and he has a great personality!

Think about it, is it possible you are sending out the wrong message? If so how do you change it?

Special thanks to Tereze and Bosse for giving us a chance to reflect!

IKEA + UNICEF = Sustainability

25 February 2009

When the financial status of the business world seems to be on every persons mind I would like to take the opportunity to give you an update that would most likely both impress you and also make you curious;

IKEA donates 422 million SEK to UNICEF.

In a time when most businesses downsizes, when all you ever hear about are people being laid off…..when Saab is going through a complicated reconstruction……..IKEA chooses to;

Donate 422 million SEK to UNICEF!

Makes me think about sustainable business, makes me wonder about IKEA and the thought process they had before making this decision.

When it comes down to it, you can have the best of ideas, the most complete marketing strategy and the hippest ads and commercials but the true carrier that made this happen are truly IKEA co workers all over the world! Stand up tall – be proud and know without your hard work and efforts there would not be 422 millions to give away!

422 million SEK

Thanks for giving me hope and making me feel proud to be an IKEA customer!

Best regards

Donna

I like!

22 February 2009

I am a great football fan and my volunteer work is a major part of me. I spend a lot of my free time in board rooms and at football fields watching kids from the age of 6 – 19 playing.

Football players can get offers most of us can only imagine, the big football clubs in Europe seem to have a never ending cash flow coming in. The international companies fight for the place at the front of a T-shirt worn by Ronaldo or Kaka.

One football club has taken a different look at marketing compared to must clubs;

FC BARCELONA!!!!

On their t-shirts you find UNICEF and it makes me happy every time I see them play! They probably had a long line of companies fighting for the place but they chose a completely different way and direction, both for the brand and club! Talk about sustainable sponsorship!

Every company should have a marketing and strategy plan that involves supporting local sport clubs or youth organisations. It is an investment in the future, in our children and therefore in ourselves. It should be a part of the brand – sustainable sponsorship that creates possibilities for children and in the long run all of us.

It is not just money that you can donate, time and knowledge is most welcomed and needed! If you take a look at most websites you can see that most of them have a need of all aspects from web to marketing, from strategy to action.

Investing in a child is always the best decision!

Have a great week!

Lets go!

21 February 2009

Hi everyone,

In my new role as the program responsible for Creative Marketing I feel the pressure weigh heavily on my shoulders…what a challenge!

It is time to show my true colors and perhaps take a stand. Maybe come with some good advice, inspire you and above all challenge you with my reflections of the world. That is my vision! Like with most things in life time will tell if I will succeed!

First topic – personal marketing.

Do you know what kind of signals you send out? Do you have ful controll of your own marketing? Do you know how people perceive you and does it really matter? Last week I was as usuall on the morning train from Helsingborg – Malmö and there was a group of girls sitting next to me chatting about job searching. The thing was that they were very loud and they were extremely negative about certain companies and it made me think, did they even consider the fact that someone beside them could actually work at one of these companies they wanted so much to get in to? Someone mentioned a name of a person that I know personally and that they would call him up for an interview…..maybe a good thing that I didnt get their names???

Personal marketing is always in progress  – the key is to be aware of it!

Have a great weekend people!
